So here's the basic (albeit, a bit random at times) rundown on my life the past few months or so:
-I'm 17 now. And now I'm starting to understand what my senior friends from last year meant about feeling old. I had my senior portraits taken on my birthday. Yearbook shots, cap and gown shots, the whole shebang. And then it really hit me: I'm not gonna be around this school much longer.
-I threw a pie into Schneller (theatre teacher)'s face. That is pay back for me, my bf, and anyone else that's been suffering (especially cast and crew of Seussical). Plus thanks to Nickelodeon, I've always wanted to throw a cream pie anyways. :3
-The other Monday, the head of the art department had no idea who I was and called me "Yellow Girl". By that Friday, she couldn't believe I didn't take art classes and told me that if I wanted to take any art courses as a senior, then I have a free ticket to bypass the underclassmen levels and go straight to the senior art electives. If my schedule decides to be stupid and I won't be able to fit Concert Band in, I guess this will be a pretty cool option. And I know an offer like this isn't given to just anyone.
-As soon as the spring musical's over, Schneller's got me working on yet another poster for theatre. Since when did we have some sort of performance after the musical (our biggest production each year)?
-So Murphy (dance teacher/head of the performing arts department) wants to speak to me. Something like this honestly has the ability to petrify a person, but I know what it's about. After Schneller's poster, Murph's gonna have me working on another one. They're lucky I love theatre and the performing arts department. Don't recruit some art kid when you got an artist that opted for band instead!
-Today, Jones (band teacher/head of music department) hands me his guitar and goes "Here, hold this while I go talk to Murphy. Go -makes playing noises- with the guitar." I look at him helplessly. "Jones, I can't PLAY guitar . . ." He replies "Why not?" And leaves me in the front of the room in his seat with his guitar. " . . . this isn't my instrument. DDDx"
-So yeah, if it isn't clear, I kinda go to a performing arts school. We do have other things (as noted by my mention of a studio arts department), but they're not as big. Anyways, morning of the elementary/middle school performance of the musical, I'm chilling in the theatre hallway with the cast and crew. Then Hoher (select choir teacher) starts talking to me. I'm not insanely crazy about her, but bleh. She was telling me how she told her husband that I drew the promotional posters and shirts for the show when he swore that a professional did them and not some student. Then she went on to tell me "You're gonna be famous some day and we're all gonna say 'Oh my God, we know her!' like we do with Jenna Ushkowitz." For those of you who don't know who Jenna is, she's the actress who plays Tina Cohen-Chang. Funny, that's kinda how all this "your art skills belong to us now" thing it all started. The day I officially met Schneller, I was cosplaying as Tina. The first drawing of mine he saw was one of Tina and Artie. So yeah, I started thinking to myself "Wow, they really expect a lot for me . . ." A little later, I realize " . . . wait, Hoher started working here THIS year. She didn't KNOW Jenna . . ."
Hmm, it's kinda amusing. I think I'll be the first ever medical doctor who becomes famous for her skills in the studio arts after having attended a school for the performing ones.
